Maryland Senior Photographer | Class of 2020 | Montgomery County Senior Session

The COVID-19 crisis put the entire world at a stand still. This year has been hard for everyone, but it’s been especially hard for anyone celebrating a milestone. For high school seniors it meant no graduations, no prom, no proper goodbyes to all their teachers and friends. For parents, it meant they didn’t get to see their graduates walk across the stage, or get ready for prom or any of the other senior year events.

As a Maryland family photographer, I was sad that people wouldn’t get to document their milestones the way they had intended. Once photographers were allowed to get back to work after the restrictions were lifted, I was happy to get back to serving my families! I was absolutely thrilled when this young lady’s mom contacted me about a senior photography session. She thought it would lift her daughter’s spirits after such a strange and disappointing end to the year. I was more than happy to play a small part in celebrating a milestone and documenting the final days of this chapter of her life.

As I learned more about this young lady, I was very impressed by how much she has accomplished at such a young age. Her mom described her as “a hard worker and very generous…she is strong and a go getter.” This Class of 2020 senior has kept herself very busy. In her senior year, she had two part-time jobs and was also a make-up artist. She was on mock trial, the Executive Officer of her Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) program and to top it off, was a National Honor Society (NHS) inductee. But she won’t stop there! In the fall she’s off to Salisbury University to major in biology/pre med studies. Coming from a military family, her ultimate goal is to become an Army trauma surgeon. Like I said, very impressive. Congratulation class of 2020!

My plan for this senior session was to have fun and celebrate everything she has accomplished. She wanted to include her best friend and fur buddy in the session, which made it even more special. It was a fun afternoon, filled with laughter, memories and a few tears. I was honored to be trusted with documenting such a precious moment. It’s times like this that I am proud to be a Maryland Family Photographer, serving all the wonderful families that I meet.

Family photography is an investment in your family. It is a privilege when a family trusts me with documenting their memories. It’s something I don’t take lightly, especially after the crisis that we are facing. It’s been a reminder about what is truly important in this word, and that is our loved ones.
